About the Dean’s Office Graduate Assistantship

Penn Carey Law is a highly collaborative and supportive community for both students and staff alike. The Graduate Assistant will be an integral member of a highly dynamic, collegial, team-oriented Dean’s Office environment. The Graduate Assistant will receive a broad and deep view into leadership operations at the decanal level, as well as a unique sightline into institution-wide administrative issues.

As a member of the Penn Carey Law community, the Graduate Assistant is welcome to participate in all Law School events including but not limited to staff professional development workshops and guest lectures.

Required Duties

Key responsibilities of the Graduate Assistant include:

  • Create and ensure a warm, welcoming, and professional environment for all who enter the Dean’s Suite.
  • Accept, prioritize, and complete special projects assigned by the Dean’s Executive Assistant.
  • Scan documents, arrange digital files, prepare spreadsheets and reports, create invitations and surveys, and occasionally answer phones.
  • Ensure current content on the website for the Penn Carey Law Dean’s Office.
  • As needed, draft and edit correspondence and other key communications for the Dean’s Office. 
  • As needed, assist in planning events for the Dean’s Office.

Preferred Qualification and Essential Skills

Preferred qualifications and skills of the Graduate Assistant include:

  • Strong commitment to a service environment.
  • Strong writing skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated track record as a self-starter.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Qualtrics, and familiarity with web posting software.
