Overview

The coordinator will be responsible for coordinating programs and other educational activities to increase financial literacy for approximately 650 PennCAP (Student Support Services and University Components) students. In addition, the coordinator will work closely with the Student Financial Aid and the Financial Wellness offices to plan financial aid and wellness presentations relevant to first-generation students and/or students from limited-income backgrounds who we serve. The coordinator will also maintain comprehensive records of students’ participation in such programs and ensure that all students are apprised of the financial wellness opportunities.

Required Duties

  • Serve as liaison to Penn’s Office of Student Financial Aid (SFA), working closely with this office to develop and coordinate workshops related to the Penn financial aid package and financial wellness 
  • Develop, in collaboration with campus partners, programming designed to educate first-generation students and/or students from limited-income backgrounds on topics intended to increase financial literacy
  • Provide, to both entering and upper-level students, a financial literacy educational program that will span the entire 4 years of the college experience and will address topics designed to be appropriate for the students’ educational level
  • Assist students with information on both the full range of student financial aid programs and benefits and resources for locating public and private scholarships and funding sources, for both their undergraduate and graduate/professional school pursuits
  • Curate ongoing digital and passive outreach to program participants to support the provision of best-in-class program content and services
  • Carry out administrative responsibilities as assigned to support strategic goals of P1P and PennCAP
  • Produce end-of-semester reports capturing extent to which students participated in financial literacy activities, as well as their level of satisfaction with programs offered

Preferred Qualification and Essential Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of financial literacy curricula and instructional practices
  • Knowledge of issues common among first-generation students and/or students from limited-income backgrounds
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills
  • Knowledge of financial aid/FAFSA processes
  • Ability to develop and implement tracking protocols for follow-up and reporting purposes
  • Having a strong sense of self-awareness and professional etiquette  
  • Being familiar with online platforms such as Canvas, Canva, Teams, Microsoft Office, newsletters, and social media sites 
  • Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Possess necessary skills and knowledge to work with dynamic team and program
